This morning, we had the honor of joining Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver and Southfield Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Molly Wing LaLone to share a powerful vision for the future of the Plaza Hotel site, a vision rooted in hope, housing, and community.

Together, we discussed the transformation of this iconic property into Hope Apartments, a comprehensive development that will become the largest investment for youth aging out of foster care in the history of our country. This bold initiative will include:
275 units
A 60,000 square-foot community center
30,000 square feet of office space
Hope Apartments will serve as a national model for how cities can invest in young people aging out of foster care by creating not just housing, but opportunity, stability, and connection.
FOX 2 News Detroit joined us to document this exciting moment, helping raise awareness about the urgent need for supportive housing for this vulnerable population. We are grateful for the opportunity to amplify our message and to stand alongside civic leaders who understand the long-term value of investing in youth.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Siver, Executive Director Molly Wing LaLone, and the City of Southfield for embracing this vision. This collaboration shows what’s possible when public leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members come together to turn a landmark into a launchpad for brighter futures.
As we continue building toward this historic transformation, we remain rooted in our mission: to ensure that every young person exiting foster care has a safe place to live, grow, and thrive.
